What changed: Listed the town choice the site remembers in your browser once more than one town is open.
Cookies and browser storage
The short version. The public site sets one cookie, only after you send a form, to find your status page again. It remembers your business details in your own browser to save you typing. Visits are counted without cookies, and not at all if your browser asks us not to track.
What we store
| Name | What it's for | Kind | How long |
|---|---|---|---|
openspot.vendor.v1 | Your business details and site-rules answers from your last form, so the next one is filled in. Never sent back to us. | Functional. Browser storage, not a cookie. | Until you choose "Not you? Clear it" on a form, or clear site data. |
osl-theme | Light or dark, if you picked one with the switch. Never sent back to us. | Functional. Browser storage, not a cookie. | Until you switch back to your device's setting, or clear site data. |
osl-town | Which town's pop-ups to show, if you picked one once more than one town is open. Sent to us only if you then sign up for the weekly email, so it covers that town. | Functional. Browser storage, not a cookie. | Until you pick "All towns", or clear site data. |
__Host-osl_status | The link to your status page, set when you send a form from this browser, so "See where your ask got to" can open it. Scripts on the page can't read it. | Necessary cookie. | 90 days, or until you clear site data. |
__Host-osl_session | Keeps OpenSpot Local staff signed in to the back office. Never set for the public. | Necessary cookie, staff only. | Until sign-out, an hour of no activity, or 12 hours at most. |
Analytics
The page loads Vercel Web Analytics, which counts page views and which pages people visit. It sets no cookie, stores nothing in your browser and doesn't follow you to other sites, so we don't ask with a banner. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track signal, the script is never loaded.
Everything we store is needed for the site to do what you asked. If we ever add a cookie or tracker that isn't, we'll ask you first with a banner, before it's set, and list it here.
Other services your browser talks to
When you open the map, your browser downloads map tiles from OpenStreetMap's servers, which see your IP address the way any website does. We don't use advertising, social media widgets or tracking pixels.
Changing your mind
Turn on Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track in your browser's privacy settings to stop visit counting. Clearing this site's data in your browser removes everything in the table above.
